About Me

Hello, my name is Julie (Jules) Buckley.

Ever since I can remember, my love for the great outdoors has been a large part of my life. I developed an even greater passion for it when I met my husband David. He already had a vast knowledge of navigation and the skills required to stay safe in wilderness terrains. 

Together we travelled to various countries where, unlike many others on holiday, we always looked for a mountain to climb or a decent walk to follow. Lounging for hours on end by the sea just doesn't appeal to us. 

Over the years we traversed most of the peaks in North and South Wales, the Wainwrights in Cumbria and several Corbett's and Munros in Scotland. 

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge has always been a favourite, although I must admit the first time I attempted it I failed after pulling a calf muscle. Having only completed Pen y Gent and Whernside, I was determined to return and complete the full route, which I did, followed by a further couple of circuits.

One thing led to another. From extreme hiking, to a serious love of navigation using the old traditional map and compass, to sea kayaking and cycling. I then decided to push myself, concentrating more on the hiking and navigation aspects. 

As a mum,  I know how important it is to keep children happy and interested in their surroundings, hobbies etc.  So I have taught them to appreciate the great outdoors, and learn the skills I offer others.

Having completed the Mountain Leader award, I'm sharing my experiences and passing on the necessary skills you'll require to keep safe in mountainous and remote environments. I never settle for second best and always have your satisfaction as my top priority.
