Individual One to One

Walks4u specialises in providing personalised guiding services in the Lake District and other areas across the UK. The Lake District is a walkers paradise with a wonderful range of hills, mountains, lakes and valleys offering beautiful walking in the Lake District National Park.

Private Guiding enables you to book a walk that will match your abilities or the level of challenge you want to undertake. Through my  experience and knowledge of the Lake District I will put together a range of route options, whether that be a relaxing day around Buttermere, a hike up England's highest mountain Scafell Pike, or Striding Edge/Hellvelyn.

Long Distance walks available throughout the year. West Highland Way, Yorkshire Three Peaks etc.

I will lead you safely on the routes you've always aspired to and create itineraries focused on what you want to achieve and where and when you'd like to go.

Private guiding is ideal for individuals, couples, families, clubs or any group of up to 5 people. More people can be accomodated but an extra guide will be required.(Cost on Request)

 Choose walk locations you can easily access by public transport.

 Tackle routes you've always wanted to do, safe in the knowledge you're being led by a qualified guide.

 Request a walk that youve always wanted to acheive, but unsure of your ability.

 Undertake a multi-day hike of your chosing.

Casual Walks

Full and half day guided walks . Especially good and favoured by couples and families.

Let me take the worry out of your day while I guide you around the hills or countryside, teaching some new basic skills if you want to learn. Alternatively, you can simply just take in the views, do some photography, or let your children have fun and enjoy the freedom.

Well follow a relaxed walk, giving ample rest breaks, when and where required. Gaining knowledge is a benefit if required, but be assured it’s not a marathon race or military boot camp!

Walks take place mainly in The Lake District, plus various other areas of the UK, mainly between February and November, although I'm always happy to guide you at any other time.

An average walk will be between 4 and 8 hours depending on your requirements and/or fitness level.

Minimum of 3 persons required.

Maximum group of 8

Cost:  Walks: £50.00 - £60.00 Per Day

Group Walks

My guided walks are perfect for people who want an escorted walk in a small group of like-minded people. Share a moment with some new friends, stroll through the countryside together admiring the landscape.

These group walks are perfect for those travelling alone, as a couple or with friends – everyone is welcome and there are opportunities to socialise with group members and your guide.

Where you request a larger group number of people, I can accomodate but it will require an additional qualified guide to assist..

I keep my group sizes small (typically 4 to 8people) as I feel it gives the walk a good mix of people whilst giving everyone the opportunity to learn from my ocal knowledge.

Group days from £50pp (minimum 3 bookings required) Scrambling days £65pp

Larger groups, please contact me.

Paddle Boarding

Paddle Sports

Stand up paddle boarding, or SUP, is one of the fastest-growing UK watersports out there, and it’s time you gave it a go! Ideal for small and large groups. With a team of dedicated instructors, I now offer this new activity to new and past clients.

The Lake District offers remarkable views and outstanding beauty. Nestled within the rolling spectacular Wainwright Fells, Derwent water is a large, beautiful stretch of water and one of the best spots to learn how to paddle board. You’ll have tremendous fun on the water while soaking up these remarkable views.

Costs Approx £45.00 pp for 2hours

Ghyll Scrambling

Ghyll – A northern English word for a mountain stream.

The Lake District has some fantastic ghylls for us to play in. Ghyll scrambling is simply making your way through the water, over boulders, slides, jumps, dives and in some cases climbing up the waterfalls.

This activity is for young and old, fit or not so fit and you don’t even need to be able to swim for some of them.

This is the perfect activity on a bad weather day, so why not get wet when it’s wet anyway? If it is a hot day, then let’s cool you down!

All kit is provided- wetsuits, helmets, buoyancy aids (and harnesses if required). You just need swimwear and an old pair of shoes/boots. I have a few available if you need some.

Below are the various locations I use.

STONEYCROFT GHYLL– a favourite with all ages, families, groups and couples. After a short 10 minute walk uphill to our ‘get in’ point, we negotiate a series of slides, dives (or belly flops), jumps and rocky pools. Stoneycroft is in the Northern Lake District so if you are staying up this way it is the perfect half day activity.

Prices from £40pp

HONISTER GHYLL – based at the bottom of Honister Pass on the Borrowdale side we work our way up this ghyll, scrambling up the boulders, through the pools and under trees culminating in a backwards splash into a deep pool before a short walk back to the cars. This ghyll is usually the place to play after very heavy rain which leaves the other locations inaccessible.
